Best Bar None
The Canterbury Best Bar None scheme is supported by Safer Streets funding from the Home Office, launched in October 2022 to assist customers in identifying accredited well-run pubs, bars, clubs and other businesses that serve alcohol.
Canterbury BID
Canterbury Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, business-led, not-for-profit initiative voted for by the businesses of Canterbury in July 2014 and again in July 2019 for another five-year term.
Canterbury Christ Church University
The health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is a priority. We have worked for some time in partnership with others in the community to deliver a range of safety initiatives including the SafeZone App, Street Marshalls and Safe Taxi scheme.
Canterbury City Council
The Canterbury City Council supports the government’s Safer Streets strategy of tackling Crime, ASB and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) increasing community safety by monitoring public spaces, recording and reporting incidents in real time.
Christ Church Students’ Union
To help you enjoy the city safely the University works with the Students’ Union, Kent Police, Canterbury City Council and other partners on a range of initiatives.
East Kent Rape Crisis Centre
EKRCC provides immediate, empathic and helpful support to anyone impacted by sexual violence at any time in their life. Our ultimate goal is to create a community where women and girls are free from all forms of sexual violence.
Kent Police
A visible presence to improve the feeling of safety around local streets and towns. Providing support to victims of domestic abuse and investigation of crimes and behaviours associated with VAWG.
Kent Police & Crime Commissioner
Working with local authorities to obtain money from the Home Office for the Safer Streets projects designed to prevent neighbourhood crime, like robbery and theft, as well as improving the feeling of safety around local streets and towns.
Rising Sun
Rising Sun help domestic abuse survivors and their families who have been affected by domestic abuse. We support our users through every step of removing abuse from their lives and improving their safety, so that they can recover and move on from the life shattering impact of trauma.
Street Pastors
Street pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who patrol the streets of Canterbury on Saturday night to Sunday morning (9pm to 2-3am) supporting those using the Night time Economy (NTE).
University of Kent
The University seeks to improve the safety of the students, residents and visitors in the university area to tackle crime, ASB and addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) as part of the Safer Streets funding.
Community Safety Partnership
The Canterbury Community Safety Partnership brings together a wide range of agencies who work together to keep crime low, prevent anti-social behaviour and ensure the district is a safe place for residents, businesses and visitors.
